Baby Blooms

The Baby Blooms series began with a request from a Chicago client who was remodeling her office and seeking a contemporary steel sculpture to complement her updated interior. Having recently installed modern wood, steel, and glass furnishings, she envisioned a sculpture to place on her table-height filing cabinets that would harmonize with the new space.

She was drawn to the vibrant, powder-coated free-standing Bloom sculptures displayed in our gallery, typically created at heights of five to six feet. However, these larger works were too tall for her intended placement. She requested a smaller version in the range of approximately 30 to 36 inches tall.

In response, our blacksmith studio created a series of smaller Bloom sculptures incorporating signature forged elements such as rose, meander, and balloon forms. After reviewing images of the new pieces, she selected a red sculpture for her space.

Within the studio, these smaller works quickly became known as Baby Blooms, and the series has continued to evolve in a range of colors and variations built upon the same sculptural foundation.
