Garden Sculptures: Blooms Series
Artist Statement from Christopher Thomson
Working directly with my material, I forge yellow-hot steel to form on a scale I can manage in my studio alone or with one or two assistants. Doing blacksmith work more than full-time for the last 30 years has given me the freedom to create improvisationally, reacting to happy accidents and following in-the-moment intuitions and inspirations.
My blacksmithing and life long flute playing inform each other and have become inseparable as creative expressions.
“Blooms” is a series of flamboyant powder coated multi-colored sculptures exuding joyous energy while inviting contemplation.
Single Blooms
Single Blooms are versatile hand forged steel abstract sculptures suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings. Beyond being stylish indoor decor, they also serve as charming garden sculptures or enhance outdoor entertainment areas. These vibrant single sculptures offer flexibility—they can be individually installed in the ground or placed in a stand. Feel free to mix and match to craft your personalized "bouquet" of blooms.
Baby Blooms
Baby Blooms, crafted from steel and powder-coated for both indoor and outdoor use, are petite abstract sculptures. These versatile and enjoyable miniature artworks are a scaled-down rendition of our Home & Garden Blooms.
Home & Garden Blooms
Within this collection, three distinct forged Blooms are expertly welded onto a sturdy forged base. These Blooms not only infuse year-round color, lyricism, and joy into gardens or entrances but also elevate interior spaces such as entryways, living rooms, offices, entertainment rooms, or bedrooms. Available in heights ranging from 3 ft to 8 ft, these Bloom sculptures come in both single colors and multi-color combinations, offering a range of options to suit your aesthetic preferences.
Mesa Blooms
We've designed sturdy square bases for some of our Blooms, making them an ideal complement to various home decors. Pedestal or desktop Mesa Blooms add a bit of color and sculptural form in any environment. As a focal point or as a color accent, their improvisational aesthetic may inspire a moment for contemplation or simply inspire joy for color.
