Public & Large Sculptures
The Spiral Pajos Series
Spiral Pajos is a complete series of five sculptures, each individually forged and placed in a different setting — from Christopher's own studio to a private Texas estate to a public street corner in Colorado Springs.
Artist Statement From Christopher Thomson
Spiral Pajos is a series that has been evolving for several years — individually forged, improvised tapered forgings arranged in groups of three around an Archimedean spiral base. Their in-the-moment "strike while the iron is hot" un-fussed-with immediacy allows both the unique properties of hot-forge steel and sensibilities from my own subconscious to project in unplanned ways. The shiny powder coat finish allows the subtleties to be enjoyed both from great distance and up close. The elements move nicely in the wind. Each sculpture is meant to be understood non-verbally — much as a piece of music.
