Spiral Blooms #6 - Liberty Missouri

"Spiral Blooms #6" by Christopher Thomson: Now Featured in Liberty's Annual Sculpture Program

The historic downtown of Liberty, Missouri, has become a vibrant canvas for public art, thanks to an initiative funded by the Transient Guest Tax, approved by local voters. Through this program, the City of Liberty and the Public Art - Rotating Sculpture Program have developed an annual sculpture exhibition, transforming the streets into an outdoor gallery. This year, six original, three-dimensional works of art are featured, offering residents and visitors the chance to engage with diverse forms of creative expression. We’re proud to announce that one of these sculptures is Christopher Thomson's "Spiral Blooms #6."

Located at the prominent corner of Main Street and Franklin Street, "Spiral Blooms #6" is a dynamic piece that draws the eye with its intricate, swirling design. Inspired by nature's forms and the movement of wind, this sculpture captures the essence of growth and transformation. It’s part of a series that Christopher has created, where each piece is uniquely forged, playing with the concept of balance and fluidity in metal. The result is a striking combination of industrial material and organic flow, reflecting Christopher’s approach to merging traditional blacksmithing techniques with contemporary art.

This sculpture is more than just a visual centerpiece—it’s also part of a broader artistic conversation. "Spiral Blooms #6" is featured in the Otocast tour for the Chicago Sculpture Exhibition. By downloading the Otocast app, you can listen to an audio guide that provides deeper insight into the inspiration behind this work and its place in the broader context of public sculpture. This interactive experience allows you to connect with the artwork in a more personal way, whether you’re standing in front of it or exploring remotely.

We’re excited to be part of Liberty’s commitment to public art and cultural enrichment. If you’re in the area, be sure to visit downtown Liberty before July 2019 to see "Spiral Blooms #6" and the other remarkable sculptures on display. And for those who want to learn more, the Otocast app is just a download away.
