Featured in Hacienda's Parade of Homes

Christopher Thomson Ironworks was profiled in this year's guide to Santa Fe's Parade of Homes, presented by the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association.

The magazine also walked through how a piece actually comes together. Most work is built from recycled steel, and a single commission can take anywhere from a month to three, depending on how many components go into it. Clients typically arrive through architects, designers, or homeowners looking for a blend of Southwestern character and contemporary lines — a look Christopher has developed into his own over the years. The team got their due too: Pedro Cobos, a blacksmith, and studio manager Rhonda Thompson have both been part of the shop for close to three decades, and Susan Livermore — Christopher's wife, a painter in her own right — co-founded the business alongside him and now handles client relationships and color direction.

Parade of Homes has run in Santa Fe since 1992, presented by SFAHBA in partnership with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) — a national organization whose members build roughly 80% of new homes across the country each year. Christopher Thomson Ironworks is a member of both organizations, and the studio's ironwork has appeared in past Parade of Homes tours. This year, rather than a home entry, the studio was featured in the magazine that accompanies the event — a look at the craftspeople behind the region's home-building culture.
