Iron Tribe 2019

The International Iron Tribe Exhibit opened February 8th and it will be closing this coming weekend. "This curated show is as much about the culture of iron artists as it is about mediums,” says David Lobdell, the Highlands fine arts professor who founded the biennial Iron Tribe event in 2001. “It features iron and steel sculptures, paintings, photographs, fine art prints, and videos that are all connected to the idea of iron as a physical element.”
There will be an Iron Tribe performance pour on Feb 28th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A said 1,400 pounds of metal will be melted and flung against a wall, displaying a spectacular molten metal light show.

This will take place in the parking lot of the northwest corner of 7th Street & Douglas Avenue in Las Vegas, NM. Based upon Dashuhua, the ancient Chinese Festival of Lights tradition, a tradition that is till alive during the Chinese New Year, the Iron Tribe Performance Pour is show you don't want to miss.

The closing reception for the Iron Tribe 2019 iron art sculpture exhibit is March 1st from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Burris Hall Gallery, 903 University Ave. It features 90 leading international and American contemporary iron artists as well as photographers, painters and fine-art printmakers.

Christopher will be the featured speaker for the closing Symposium from 1 - 3 p.m in Burris Hall, Lecture Room 129. We hope you can join us!
